Career Exploration Programs
Preparing Students for their Futures
Ten years ago, our small board of visionary Peoria leaders decided to look beyond our traditional role of providing classroom grant and scholarship support, taking a deeper look into impacts for students directly with career readiness. Out of that vision the Horizons Club middle school career exploration was developed. A decade later the program has expanded district-wide and developed to include K-5 career education programs for all students.
What is the Horizons Club?
A lunchtime middle school career readiness education program that partners with community members to speak with PPS students about their career paths. The students are also engaged in soft skills education, goal setting techniques, and discovering their unique talents.
What is See It, Be It?
A career exploration program for PPS students in grades K-5 that uses both speakers and field trips to spark the imaginations of our youngest students.
