From sticking families, communities and schools together, with the help of a little duct tape, to providing financial opportunities for students to further their education.
The Peoria Public Schools Foundation is pleased to announce a new program for middle school students. The Horizons Club intent is to allow students to investigate various industries and occupational possibilities. This program started in January as a pilot program. Three schools Rolling Acres, Calvin Coolidge and Von Steuben had students from the 6th, 7th and 8th grade over the lunch hour attend the club once a week. The investigations will be web-based learning as well as a speaker series featuring professionals from a wide variety of industries. A year-end career fair highlighted the work and careers the club saw and was shared to the entire student bodies. Trish O'Shaughnessy is the coordinator of the program and did an outstanding job! The 17th Annual Peoria Public Schools Foundation Golf Outing turned out to be a great day and we raised roughly what we did last year. Special thanks to all those who sponsored, participated and helped with our outing. We look forward to next years event and your continued support. Our golf outing allows us to continue the great things we do in District 150 such as Classroom Grants, and now our new Horizon's Club! Please feel free to contact the Foundation office at (309) 672-6738 to get involved with the planning and participation of our next golf outing.
