The Adopt-A-School Program has been in District 150 for over 30 years. In 2015, Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat at the all staff meeting in August, listed as one of her priorities to revitalize the Adopt-A-School Program.
The Peoria Public Schools Foundation is pleased to partner with the Peoria Public Schools, and the Junior League of Peoria on an important and needed collaboration to revitalize the Adopt-A-School program.
The goal of the program is to work with the community including, businesses and organizations to adopt schools. The biggest piece to the program is having a coordinated effort, through an employee. A leader who works closely with the schools and organizations to develop and grow the program. We have 27 schools, and all have need of this enriched support. The main areas of support through the Adopt-A-School program, is tutoring and mentoring, in kind donations of school supplies or other items and financial support, but not limited to those.
